This is an extraordinary phone for the person who wants to use a phone as a phone, and as a device with which to Send and receive text Messages, while at the same time carrying a camera, timepiece and flashlight. I had no interest in a smart phone into which I could download apps and in effect turn it into a pocket-sized computer, so I can destroy my eyesight, and fritter away my time with social media, video, blogs, and games on a small screen while waiting somewhere to participate in some real activity. But I did want the ability to text, using my voice only, with my grandchildren, call or text my wife or a friend if there was something important to share at the time, take a photograph if I saw something photograph worthy, or receive a verification code from the many services now using two-step verification. And because I was going to be an infrequent user, I did not want to be bound to a contract; I wanted to use the cheapest limited minutes monthly plan I could find. The Daisy, and a 30 minute per month plan from TracFone seemed like it would be the perfect answer. And it was. It did everything I wanted, including the clearest voice to text capability that I have encountered on any device. And I tried to use it as it as I intended for over three months, and for those purposes it worked perfectly. But I have a degenerative neuromuscular condition that has taken so much strength from my hands and fingers that it was too difficult for me to open and close the flip cover and hold the phone in my hand while using it. I could not use it unless someone else was home to help me open close it, and use its functions. Although Sunbeam has a 30 day return policy, when I explained the reason for my difficulty in using it, they immediately agreed to a full refund (minus the restocking fee), notwithstanding that I had the phone for over three months from when I received it. I cannot conceive, in this day and age, of another company doing that. It is a small company and, for all service and technical questions, you deal directly with its owners or key executives (on a real first name basis) when you telephone or email. No useless helpdesks, no demanding to speak with supervisors, no endless menus and waiting on hold while a robot tells you to look at an FAQ that you already know does not solve your problem; it’s real people providing real, customer focused, service. And finally, I want to note that In addition to someone like myself, whose intended use of a smart phone was as antediluvian as was mine, this is also the perfect phone to start out a youngster with whom you want to be able to be in contact when they were away from a landline, but who you did not want to give the capability to become addicted to games or social media.

So far I really like my Daisy. It replaced my LG Exalt so it has more useful features. I especially like the talk-to-text feature and the touchscreen. I am a dairy farmer so if someone texts me while I am milking I can very quickly reply to to them using talk-to-text and get back to milking. I have never used Google’s speech-to-text but have seen other people use it. Microsoft’s on the Sunbeam phones seems much faster and more convenient. The times I do type my texts out I find it has much better word prediction with xt9 than my old phone did with T9. The touchscreen makes it nice for scrolling through texts and contacts. It is faster and feels more natural. The on-screen QWERTY keyboard is nice too but I often forget I have the option to use it since it was not an option on my old flip phone. The keyboard works well even though the buttons have to be small to fit on the screen.
One thing I was worried about before I got it was that it might not hold up to the beating farmer’s phones often get. But with the screen protector and hard case cover accessories it is holding up just fine.
The ringer is nice and loud, loud enough to hear above the noise of the skidloader. I like how it has ring tones that most other flip phones don’t have. A lot of the other ones seem to come with just the stock Android ringtones.
Another thing I like about it is that it is from a small start-up company. I like their focus on making sure it protects your privacy. I don’t mind spending extra money for products that protect your privacy, especially when it is from a company whose owner’s values are similar to mine.
The only things I would ask them to add to the phone would be a timer and a hotspot.
Overall it is a very good phone, especially when you consider it is from a company who doesn’t have all that much experience making phones yet. I expect their phones will be even more competitive against other flip phones as they get more experience and work all of their bugs out of the OS.

I loved my Daisy. My Verizon flip phone died, and I did not want a phone loaded with tracking. I used my Daisy for about 2 years. No issues. Support is awesome.
Now the bad. Verizon offered me a free iPhone. I bit the bait. If your fingers/ hands are sweaty you cannot answer. Thier network has been going done A LOT lately. SO today I am going back to my Daisy. Sorry, Sunbeam I should have never switched back to Verizon.
