Here is what you need to transfer your data between Sunbeam phones:
- Your old phone
- Sim card
- 32gb or smaller Micro SD card
- Your new phone
Insert a 32 Gb (or smaller) microSD card in the slot beneath the battery on your old phone and turn it on.
Export Contacts:
- Open Contacts
- Press Menu
- Settings
- Export contacts
- In the Select export dir. you will see two folders. One will be marked internal memory and the other will be an eight-digit number with an xxxx-xxxx format. This is your microSD card.
- Select the microSD card folder
- Press “Select” in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- You will see the notification that exporting has begun.
Export Messages
- Open Messaging
- Press Menu
- Settings
- Export messages
- In the Select export dir. you will see two folders. One will be marked internal memory and the other will be an eight-digit number with an xxxx-xxxx format. This is your microSD card.
- Select the microSD card folder
- Press “Select” in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- You will see a message “Exporting messages. Please wait…” The export can take a few minutes to over an hour depending on the number of messages. To speed up the export you can delete any unneeded messages, especially those that include pictures or other attachments.
Transfer Pictures, Music, and Recordings
- Open Tools>Files
- Navigate to the files you want to transfer. Camera pictures are stored in DCIM> Camera. Screenshots are stored in Pictures>Screenshots. Sound Recordings are stored in Recording. Music is stored at the location selected when transferred.
- Select all the files you want to transfer by long pressing the file using the touchscreen or D-pad.
- Press the 3 dot Menu
- Select Copy
- Navigate to the MicroSD card in Files
- Press the 3 dot Menu
- Select Paste
Transfer Notes, Alarms, Calendar Events and Voice Reminders
- These need to be manually entered in the new device, as there is no export feature.
- Notes can be sent as a text message to another phone number. Open Notes>Options>Send.
Insert MicroSD card in new phone and Import Data
- Remove the back cover from your new phone and insert the MicroSD card, Sim card, and battery.
- Open Contacts> press Menu> Settings> Import Contacts> Import from Internal/SD> Choose the MicroSD card> choose the vCards file> Press “Select”> Wait until contacts are read, then press “Import”.
- Open Messaging> press Menu> Settings> Import Messages> Choose the MicroSD card> choose the backup_messages file> Press “Select”> It may take several minutes to import messages.
- You can copy and paste your music and picture files to the phone’s internal storage if you want to access them without needing the MicroSD card.
Check if your new phone has service
If your new phone does not have service after inserting the Sim card, you may need to manually select the correct APN for your carrier: System > Settings > Connectivity > Mobile network > access point names > and choose the correct APN for your cellular carrier by selecting the circle beside it. A blue-green dot will fill the APN that is active. You will then need to turn the phone off and back on to connect with the new APN settings.
