Carriers
We believe setting up your new F1 phone with your preferred carrier should be as stress-free as possible. These are some of the most common inquiries we receive about carrier compatibility. Please click the button below to visit our full FAQ page. Reach out to us at support@sunbeamwireless.com if you can’t find your carrier listed.
Can I use the Sunbeam F1 with my current carrier?
Sure! The Sunbeam F1 is unlocked, which means that it will work with any compatible carrier.
(Not all carriers are compatible. See the carriers list below for compatibility and set-up tips. If your carrier is not listed, it most likely will not work.)
For example, many users purchase the phone from us, but use it with their existing Verizon plan - which is a great choice, as the Sunbeam F1 works well on the Verizon network.
Which carriers does the Sunbeam F1 work with?
USA
Verizon – The F1 works really well on Verizon. The antenna was finely tuned with Verizon’s network in mind, so the signal/reception is really good and tends to be as good as, or better than, most other flip phones. The F1 also works with Verizon’s Visual Voicemail system, which syncs your voicemail to your phone in a nice list format that is very fast to review. If you have an active Verizon SIM card, just pop it into the Sunbeam F1 and you are ready to go! If you’re just now moving to Verizon, or need a new phone line, you will need to work with Verizon to port-in or set up the new line, but there’s no technical problem as the F1 is certified for the Verizon network.
AT&T – The F1 is now approved for the AT&T network. It works well on AT&T and supports the main LTE bands. Please note that the F1 does not sync with the AT&T Visual Voicemail server, at least not yet.
T-Mobile – The F1 works well on T-Mobile. It’s missing T-Mobile’s B71, so it’s not a perfect match. However, depending on your area, you might get along with the F1 just fine on T-Mobile, as there are plenty of other T-Mobile bands that the F1 supports. It does work with T-Mobile’s Visual Voicemail system, which is nice.
Note: If you have been a Sprint customer and have recently received a T-Mobile SIM card, but the billing account is still handled by Sprint, you will need to have your old Sprint account “merged” to T-Mobile. Until this occurs, the T-Mobile SIM card will not work. We’re not sure why this impacts the service plan, but it does. The solution is to contact the Sprint/T-Mobile “Merging Support Desk” and have your Sprint account merged into T-Mobile. Until that happens, the phone will not work, even with the T-Mobile SIM card.
Bluegrass Wireless – The F1 works on Bluegrass, but you have to request them to enable “VoLTE” on the line.
Visible – The F1 currently does not work with Visible.
SafeLink – The F1 currently does not work with SafeLink Wireless.
Xfinity – The F1 currently does not work with Xfinity Mobile.
Verizon MVNOs (eg. RedPocket, PagePlus, US Mobile, Affinity Cellular, or TracFone) – The F1 works well with these, no configuration needed on the phone.
AT&T MVNOs (eg. Consumer Cellular, Cricket, or H2O) – The F1 works well on these, you just need to select their APN in the APN settings list for MMS and Data to work. (Settings > Connectivity > Mobile Network > Access Point Names).
T-Mobile MVNOs (eg. Mint Mobile, Tello, Ultra Mobile) – The F1 works well on these, you just need to select their APN in the APN settings list for MMS and Data to work. (Settings > Connectivity > Mobile Network > Access Point Names).
Appalachian Wireless – The F1 now works with Appalachian Wireless. However, you need to request a B13 SIM card and also request them to enable VoLTE on the line.
Sprint – The F1 does not support any of the Sprint bands and will not work with Sprint at all. Sorry!
Ting – Yes. Both the Ting V1 and/or X3 SIM cards.
Total by Verizon – Yes, you just need to change the APN to “TRACFONE.VZWENTP” for data and MMS to function. (Settings > Connectivity > Mobile Network > Access Point Names)
Google Fi – The F1 does work with Google Fi, but with some major caveats. a) The SIM card must first be initially configured in a smartphone using the Google Fi app. b) Incoming SMS text messages have a weird message encoding string attached to them. c) MMS messages are not able to be downloaded, possibly because the Google Fi app is required for this. d) Without the Google Fi app, it seems that only T-Mobile is available. Due to these four issues, we do not recommend using Google Fi.
US Cellular – At this time the F1 does not work with US Cellular.
Canada
The F1 has not been tested with MVNOs (resellers) of the main carriers in Canada. If your carrier is not listed, it is most likely not compatible.
Koodoo – The F1 works well on Koodoo.
Rogers – The F1 works well on Rogers.
Fido – The F1 works well on Fido.
Lucky Mobile – The F1 works well on Lucky.
Videotron – The F1 works well on Videotron and their subcarrier Fizz.
Virgin – The F1 works well on Virgin.
Telus – The F1 works well on Telus.
Bell – Customers have reported the F1 works with Bell.
Public Mobile – The F1 does not work reliably with Public Mobile.
Shaw Mobile – The F1 does not work reliably with Shaw Mobile.
Chatr – The F1 does not work reliably with Chatr.
Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa
The F1 does not include the 3G (UMTS) or 4G (LTE) bands required for use in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Due to this, the F1 will not work in most countries outside of North or South America. (This is a hardware issue and cannot be added with a software update).
Can I enable Call Forwarding with a Sunbeam phone?
Call Forwarding is a service provided by the carrier. You can enable/disable Call Forwarding from a Sunbeam phone, but we don’t have a menu for this so you have to enter a code to accomplish this.
Verizon Call Forwarding:
- Enable forwarding of ALL calls – Dial *72 followed by the phone number
- Enable conditional forwarding (after missed call) – Dial *71 followed by the phone number
- Disable – *73
AT&T Call Forwarding:
- Enable call forwarding of ALL calls – Dial **21*, followed by the 10-digit number you wish to forward the calls to, then dial #. For example, **21*1235556789# forwards your call to 123.555.6789.
- To disable call forwarding of ALL calls, Dial #21#.
- Enable call forwarding of missed calls – Dial *004*, followed by the 10-digit number you wish to forward the calls to, then dial *11#. For example, *004*1235556789*11# forwards your call to 123.555.6789.
- To disable call forwarding of missed calls, Dial #004#.
T-Mobile Call Forwarding:
- Enable call forwarding of ALL calls – Dial **21*PhoneNumber#
- Disable forwarding of ALL calls – ##21#
- Enable call forwarding of missed calls – Dial **61*PhoneNumber#
- Disable forwarding of ALL calls – ##61#
